Keeping Safe, Strong and Smart is an art therapy support group for women who experienced family violence. All women are welcome. No art skills required.
Art therapy benefits
Art therapy assist survivors to safely express difficult and terrorising emotions, and to cope with traumatic memories and triggers. Art therapy supports emotional well being, concentration, relaxation and strengthens a sense of safety and hope.
How Art Therapy works
Art therapy is the use of art-making to address psychological and emotional needs. The creative process can foster: self-expression, creating coping skills, managing stress, and strengthening sense of self.
Some of the aims of the group include:
- Women supporting each other
- Increase knowledge of legal rights
- Family violence safety plans
- Find out about resources that support women and their children.
