It is important to handle negative responses in a consistent and thoughtful manner. When responding to negative comments about the LGBTIQ communities, it is important to be clear and firm about the position of the organisation, while being as non-confrontational as possible.

To support councils, healthcare organisations, schools, businesses, libraries and other establishments with responding to potential negative community feedback about LGBTIQ health initiatives, DPV Health have developed a backlash script.

This tool aims to support staff to respond to inappropriate and potentially discriminatory comments that they may be presented with in the course of their work with community.
