Pregnancy
If you are preparing for pregnancy, it is a good idea to speak with your doctor first. Our doctors can give you a medical check-up and speak with you about how best to prepare your body for pregnancy. This might include lifestyle and dietary changes, taking supplements such as folate or making sure your immunisations are up to date.
During pregnancy, your doctor can arrange tests, monitor your health, promote good pregnancy care and refer you to a suitable hospital.
Shared care
At Broadmeadows Medical Centre we offer ‘shared care’. This is where you see your doctor for some antenatal appointments in partnership with your birthing hospital or another birth setting.
Unplanned pregnancy
Our doctors offer medical and counselling support for your unplanned pregnancy. A referral is not required to access our family planning service. We support your right to choose what is best for you and your individual circumstances. Abortion or termination of pregnancy is a safe and legal medical procedure.
If you choose termination of pregnancy, there are two options:
Medication abortion (medication termination of pregnancy)
In Australia, you can take doctor-prescribed tablets to terminate pregnancy up to nine weeks (63 days). After our doctor’s assessment and ultrasound, we provide the prescription and ongoing care.
Surgical abortion (surgical termination of pregnancy)
Surgical abortion requires a referral to another service. Have a confidential discussion with your doctor to find out your options.
Contraception
Our doctors can advise and assist you on birth control methods best suited to you.
We offer contraception choices to suit your needs including intrauterine devices (IUDs) including copper IUDs, as well as implants.

Bulk billing is available. All fees are set by individual doctors. Please enquiry about the fees at the time of making an appointment.
