
Paediatric Audiology
We will work in close partnership with your child, to identify their hearing status and needs. At this full assessment, we look at your child’s ear health and hearing levels. You will receive the results at the appointment, and a letter will be sent to the referrer and any other parties, at your request.
You should seek a referral to the DPV Health Audiology service for a hearing test if you notice any of the following signs or symptoms.
For children:
- Has concerns about their speech/language development
- Has frequent ear infections
- Often asks for repeats or says ‘huh’ or ‘what’
- Has difficulty concentrating, paying attention, or has behavioural problems
- Sits close to the television
- Shouts or whispers when talking
Fees
Fees, where applicable will be determined prior to your first visit. Please ask for details of fees while booking your appointment.
We also offer a private Fee for Service Audiology clinic at Mill Park and Broadmeadows with no waiting list. There is a fee of $110 per initial standard appointment. You will be able to get an appointment within 1-2 weeks.
If you have a GP/ Paediatrician referral for the service, then you will receive a Medicare rebate of between $35 – $53 which we will process at the time of payment. If there is no GP/ Paediatrician referral, or you do not have a Medicare Card, then there will be no rebate, and the appointment will be full cost.
If the referral is for a hearing assessment to assist in the diagnosis or contribute to a child’s complex neuro developmental disorder (such as autism spectrum disorder) or eligible disability treatment plan. The appointment will cost $180 (double appointment), with a rebate of $85.20.
The referral from the Paediatrician needs to state that it is for diagnosis of a complex neuro developmental disorder such as ASD, for client to receive the rebate.
Who can use this service
Our audiology service provides diagnostic hearing assessments for infants and children.
We accept self-referrals, and referrals from family members and carers, General Practitioners, Paediatricians, Specialists, Teachers, Maternal and Child health nurses or other professionals.
NOTE: We do not fit hearing aids but can refer you to an appropriate service if required.
