Children’s Speech Pathology

Paediatric Speech Pathology

The DPV Health Speech Pathology Service is designed for young children, up to school entry age, who are experiencing difficulty with their speech and language development, yet have normal development in other areas. A Speech Pathologist can help your child to develop speech, language and communication skills.

Our team of speech pathologists is committed to providing a quality service for young children. We follow a family-centred and community-building approach. We pride ourselves on working in partnership with you and your child to provide the best opportunity for your child to develop their speech and/or language skills.

We can assist with the following:

  • Articulation/phonology; producing speech-sounds correctly
  • Receptive language; understanding what others say
  • Expressive language; using words to form sentences and express ideas
  • Fluency; producing a smooth flow of speech
  • Voice; using an appropriate voice quality
  • Pragmatics; understanding and using appropriate social communication skills

After assessment of your child, we will work with you to create a Speech Pathology Care Plan to help your child achieve the plans’ agreed goals.

Therapy programs may consist of one or more options, including group therapy, individual sessions, blocks of therapy, a home program, monitoring and review.
