The DPV Health Community Asthma program provides free asthma self-management education and support for children and young people with asthma and their families.
Our services are developed for people who frequently attend the GP (Doctor) or the Emergency Department with asthma.
Families entering our program will receive one-on-one education and support from one of our qualified health professionals, who have advanced skills in asthma education.
Our Asthma Educator will assist you and your family to understand asthma/wheeze and how to manage it.
We can assist you with:
- Medication management
- Device technique
- Understanding your Written Asthma Action Plan
- Knowing when to seek medical or emergency assistance
- Identifying triggers
- Promoting self-management

We will also liaise with your doctor and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of your asthma management.
Interpreters are available, if required.
This service is available to children aged between 1-17 years, who have a diagnosis of asthma and live in the cities of Hume, Whittlesea, Moreland, Darebin and the Shire of Nillumbik.

Fees may apply and will be assessed at the time of Intake. A fee waiver process is available if you are having difficulty paying for the service.
