‘Circle of Security’ is an early intervention program for parents with young children.

From July 18, DPV Health will be delivering the ‘Circle of Security’ program, in which the main aims are to help parents:

  • understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs
  • support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
  • support and strengthen secure child-parent attachments
  • enhance the development of their child’s self-esteem.

Research has shown that children who are more secure experience more happiness and less anger with their parents, turn to their parents in times of need, learn to solve problems, form better relationships with peers, trust the people around them, know how to be kind to those around them and do better at school.

Mothers of young children (aged 4 months – 6 years) are invited to participate. This group is designed to provide a safe place for mothers to grow and celebrate their own way of developing a secure relationship with their children and meet their children’s emotional needs and to support their children to develop a strong self-identity and resilience to handle tough life experiences. The program also looks at the mother’s own upbringing and how it affects the way they parent.

The program will be delivered on Thursdays (10am-12pm) in Meadow Heights over eight sessions commencing on Thursday 18th July and ending on Thursday 5th September. Please note that this is a parent only course and child care is not available.

For registration and further information, please contact Central Intake (1300 234 263; option 5).
