Media Release – Incident at Mernda Testing Site 30th of October, 2020

An incident occurred at DPV Health’s Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing Site at Waterview Drive, Mernda 29th October.

A security guard at the site carpark was approached by two males at 7:00am. After being asked to leave the site, one of the men hit the security guard on the arm with a stick. The security guard returned to his car, and the man struck the car with a stick causing minor damage. No other damage occurred to property or equipment at the testing site.

Police were called and attended the site along with Ambulance. The security guard received immediate care on-site and stated that he was not injured. Police removed the two males by 7:30am.

The safety of our clients and staff is of the highest priority. DPV Health extends our thoughts to the security guard affected by this incident, and our thanks to emergency services for their rapid response.

DPV Health is reviewing security procedures at the site and assisting emergency services with their enquiries. The incident is not believed to be politically motivated.

The Mernda COVID-19 Testing Site opened at 9:30am as normal, and testing continues with no delays expected. Security is present at the site 24 hours a day.
