LGBTIQ Support

Everyone belongs

DPV Health Services

We are here to support you with all your healthcare needs.

We offer a range of healthcare services including medical, dental, disability, mental health, physical health and community support, in a safe, non-judgemental and welcoming environment. Staff at DPV Health have completed an inclusion-training program on the needs and experiences of LGBTIQ people. The training features the perspectives of people from diverse backgrounds, information on inclusive language as well as the use of correct pronouns and names to ensure that everyone feels welcomed.

Discrimination affects health

We recognise that experiencing discrimination negatively impacts a person’s health and wellbeing. You don’t have to feel alone. Talk to us if you need support and we may be able to connect you, your family or carer to:

  • counselling services
  • local support groups or networks (for individuals or families and carers)
  • other appropriate services

Confidentiality and disclosure

Your privacy and safety are our priority. You have the right to a confidential health service, and any issues you discuss with us about your sexual orientation, gender identity, or intersex variations remain confidential.

IDIDAHOBIT 2023 Creative Connections Art Showcase

Community artwork on the theme 'Celebrating Identities'

Jacqui

“My collage explores the intersections of being part of a big, traditional family and my connection with the women in my family and being part of a big multigenerational queer community. Being queer opens new ways to be a woman and explore femininity, and I feel less pressure to fit into my family’s expectations. I feel like I have found the freedom to celebrate the family of my birth and my chosen rainbow family”.

Mx Jenn H

“As a young adult, my older brother travelled through national forests in California finding himself and immersing himself in nature for months at a time. The stories he regaled upon returning vividly felt the calmest and most at peace I’d ever seen him. I find the same peace and connection to him on my trips to the Warburton Californian Redwood Forest, where memories of him flow through me and keep his spirit alive”.

Me

“This is just a piece of art that I made in class one day a thought it would fit the topic perfectly”.

The Helpers - Clover

“My art piece is of some of the most helpful and nicest people I know that have changed my life so much.

I did the artwork when I was 14 but I'll be 15 in 19 days I go by all pronouns and don't really know my gender identity.”

Community Group

The Nexus LGBTIQ+ Community Group and a local artist at one of our monthly meetings got together around a table that had a mixture of art materials on it. The aim of the event was for artwork to be created. One person started, then 10 minutes later passed on to the next, and then returned to you in the end, for everyone to talk about how it felt to have their work changed/added to and then passed back to them.
