Do you need healthcare support? We provide inclusive healthcare services to newly-settled refugees and asylum seekers living in the Hume or Whittlesea catchment areas.
At DPV Health, we can provide you with comprehensive health assessments, referral to primary health, and education on Australian health systems. We also communicate with your GP and follow-up on referrals.
We will:
- Review pre-departure health documents
- Prioritise your health needs
- Communicate with your Case Manager
- Complete comprehensive physical and mental health assessment (with interpreter)
- Communicate with your doctor
- Refer to services including:
- Physiotherapy
- Occupational therapy
- Dietetics
- Diabetes Educator
- Optometry, dental, audiology
- Mental health support
- Immunisation catch-up
- Immigrant health clinic
- Paediatric refugee clinics
- NDIS disability access
- My Aged Care
- Maternal and child health
- Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies
We are a registered medical provider for asylum seekers on IHMS (International Health and Medical Services) with no Medicare Card. Our staff work closely with medical practice to provide holistic services to our refugee and asylum seeker clients. Our social workers and counsellers also provide services to the refugee community.
No Cost Medical Services
The service is available to refugees and/ or asylum seekers who reside in Hume or Whittlesea catchment areas. This is a FREE service. To find out more information click here.
We accept self-referrals, internal referrals from refugee health, and referrals from other agencies such as Asylum Seekers Centre in Footscray.

Refugee Week 2021
From June 20th to 26th 2021, we are celebrating Refugee week! This is an annual national event that aims to raise awareness and celebrate the positive contributions refugees and asylum seekers make to Australian society. The theme for Refugee Week this year is ‘Unity’, inviting us to reflect on the powerful potential we have when we work together.

All newly arrived refugee and asylum seeker clients and their families are able to access our services. Eligibility for ongoing care is determined at the initial intake assessment.
We will contact you to discuss a suitable time. Appointments are arranged after your Settlement Case Manager completes a Refugee Intake/Referral form with all information on your visa status, prior health documents, and urgent health issues.
All appointments are booked with your relevant language interpreter – free of cost.
All Refugee Health Nurse services are provided free of cost. Fees may be payable for services that are referred onto DPV Health six months after your arrival.
